Description
Minard Castle, dated 1848, was designed by John T Rochead from Glasgow. This castellated building features two and three storeys, with a front made of stugged ashlar and harled ends at the rear. It has a crenellated parapet and a gabled and piended roof behind. The castle is topped with octagonal chimneys. A central tower includes a two-storey stone porch at the front, which has ogee arches and a room above. Behind the porch is a moulded doorway with a panel inscribed '1848'. On the southwest side, there is an ogee arcade. To the northeast, there is a long one-storey wing that ends with a tower, featuring a Perpendicular window in the centre flanked by turrets.
