Description

Dated 1933. Single storey, symmetrical viewing shelter with public toilets incorporated at ends of simple classical design. Splayed U-plan, concrete block construction. W elevation includes loggia of 5 bays, divided by 4 circular columns with capitals and bases, flanked by pilastered end bays with doorways to conveniences. Loggia lined with vertical timber boarding, timber bench along base. Parapet with cope around flat roof. Segmental pediment with datestone centring 3-bay

roadside (rear) elevation of centrepiece. Cast-iron downpipes with decorative brackets, and rectangular hoppers adjacent to doors.

INTERIOR: not seen (out of use) 1994.

Rubble retaining wall to road level surmounted by parapet alternated with balustrade of concrete square profiled balusters, steps at N and S ends. Symmetrical ramps from road to loggia level with balustrade, again with concrete square profiled balusters.

Cast-iron lamp standards with fluted stems to pavement.
