Craigmore Public Toilet, Rothesay

Craigmore Public Toilet in Rothesay was built around 1930 and is a single-storey circular sewage screening chamber that originally housed male and female toilets, which are now disused. The exterior is constructed of random rubble sandstone and features a raised concrete base course, an architraved lintel course, a plain frieze, a cornice, and a battlemented parapet. The building has a domed concrete roof topped with a cast-iron spherical finial that sits on a central tapering concrete point. The openings are framed by long and short concrete surrounds and have predominantly replacement square-block opaque glazing with chamfered cills. Decorative cast-iron pedestrian entry gates lead to the male and female toilets. The interior was not seen in 1996.
