Description

7 Craigmore Road is a house built in the later 19th century. It is a near-symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay structure with advanced gabled bays on the outer left and right. The house is constructed of coursed stugged yellow sandstone with yellow sandstone ashlar dressings. It features a stepped plinth and overhanging timber eaves. The quoins are slightly raised, and there are raised long and short ashlar surrounds around the chamfered openings. The ground floor has segmental-arched windows with pilastered mullions, while the first floor has square-headed windows.

On the northeast (entrance) elevation, there is a replacement glazed door at the centre of the ground floor, which has an architraved surround and a plate-glass fanlight above. A timber bracketed dentilled canopy projects over the door. There is a single gabled window aligned above on the first floor. The advanced bay to the outer right has a projecting window at ground level and a tripartite window centred in the apex. The advanced bay to the outer left features a three-light canted window at ground level and a smaller three-light canted window aligned above on the first floor, both topped with decorative cast-iron brattishing.

The windows are two-pane timber sash and case style, with segmental-arched uppers on the ground floor. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and includes fish-scale detailing on the three-light canted window. There are coped sandstone apex stacks at the northwest and southeast corners, topped with octagonal cans.

The boundary wall and gatepiers consist of a coped whitewashed wall along Craigmore Road, with panelled square-plan ashlar piers flanking the entrance. These piers have dentilled cornices and square caps, along with cast-iron gates.
