Description
Ardoch Gardens is possibly from the late 18th century and features an earlier to mid 19th century walled garden located at the southeast corner, directly behind the cottage. The large rectangular area is enclosed by a rubble wall, which has been partly rebuilt and buttressed on the exterior. There is a large segmental-headed door on the south wall, which is now blocked.
The later walled garden was constructed within the larger walled garden at the southeast corner and may have served as a vegetable garden for the cottage. This rubble wall includes staged red sandstone margined doors on the east wall. Inside, there is a brick lining against the south wall, along with remnants of former greenhouses. There are also doors on the west wall.
