Description

The Hall, located on Dalintober High Street in Campbeltown, was built in 1809 and altered in 1896 by H E Clifford. This two-storey and attic house features a near-symmetrical three-bay design, with a single-storey wing to the west that has paired curved gables facing the street. The exterior is finished with roughcast walls accented by polished ashlar dressings and details, all painted. There is a band course at the eaves, and the windows are architraved with projecting sills. The entrance has a pilastered doorcase with an entablature, leading to a six-panel door topped by a rectangular fanlight. To the right, there is a prominent two-storey, five-light semicircular window in the bay, which also has band and sill courses at the first floor.

On the east elevation, the gable end features a single window at the first floor, positioned to the right of centre. The windows are made of plate glass in timber sash and case style. The roof is grey slate, with a piend roof and slate-hung canted timber dormers on the southern pitch at the outer bays, along with a small slate-hung catslide in the centre. The building has profiled cast-iron gutters and downpipes, and substantial rendered apex stacks at the gables, complete with thackstanes and circular cans on the eastern stack, although the skew copes at the eastern gable have been removed.

The boundary walls consist of roughcast walls and rectangular gatepiers along High Street, topped with painted copes and wrought-iron railings and gates. The gatepiers are symmetrically adorned with couchant lions.
