Description

Circa 1800 with later addition to north. Rectangular-plan, former bridge keeper's house beside Oakfield swing-bridge on the Crinan Canal near Lochgilphead. Located on steeply sloping canal bank with large basement section at lower level to rear. Rubble, partially rendered.

Single-storey and attic, 4-bay appearance to the west elevation facing the Canal. Simple classical doorway with pilasters and lintel. Early 19th century piended-roof addition to north gable. Lean-to porch addition to left. Deep 2-storey on falling ground to rear elevation, facing Loch Gilp. Large segmental-arch doorway with double doors flanked by single windows. A blind recess above is flanked by two further windows.
