Post Office, Colchester Square, Lochgilphead

The Post Office in Colchester Square, Lochgilphead, is an early 19th-century Georgian building featuring two storeys and an attic. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar on two fronts and topped with a slate roof. The elevation facing Colchester Square has a ground floor adorned with a row of 12 Doric pilasters that support an architrave and cornice, with doors and windows positioned between them. The upper floor showcases windows with alternating surrounds. This design continues around to the Lochnell Street elevation, which has three windows. The building is topped with ashlar chimneys that have moulded caps, and it features a piended roof with five later dormers. A heavy cornice and a blocking course are present at the eaves.
