Description
Island House, built in 1748, is a traditional structure that incorporates the thick walls of a medieval keep. The building has undergone later alterations to its roof and windows. It stands two storeys high with an attic and is harled with a gabled design. The house features round-headed dormers and has two later 19th-century two-storey gabled bays at the front, which include insets with dates; the western bay is marked '1874', while the eastern bay has a date taken from the older part, '1748'. At the western end, there is an L-shaped one-storey office. The roof, which was originally slated, has been re-clad in Marley tiles.
