51-53 High Street, Rothesay, Bute

51-53 High Street in Rothesay, Bute, is a pair of early 19th century, two-storey, two-bay near-symmetrical flatted houses that form part of a terrace, with an attic at No 51. The buildings feature painted harl with painted margins, a raised base course, a lintel course beneath the eaves, and projecting cills. Notable quoin detailing is present on the outer right side.

The west entrance elevation includes a two-leaf timber panelled door in the outer left bay, which serves as the entrance to the upper flat at No 51, along with a plate-glass fanlight above. There is a single window at ground level in the bay to the right, and both bays have single windows on the first floor. Above, a three-light canted dormer is situated. In the penultimate bay to the outer right, there is another timber panelled door leading to the ground floor flat at No 53, which has an architraved surround and a plate-glass fanlight. The outer right bay also contains a single window at ground level, with single windows in both bays on the first floor.

The houses feature 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a graded grey slate roof with raised skews, a corniced wallhead stack at the centre, a corniced ridge stack, and circular cans.
