Description
Miller's House at Rhudil Mill appears to date from the earlier to mid-19th century, although it likely consists of multiple builds. It features a court of single-storey rubble-built structures adjacent to the mill, including a single-storey and attic miller's house that faces the road. The house has a symmetrical three-bay front with a central gabled porch, flanked by hood-moulded windows that have projecting cills and 16-pane sash and case glazing, notable for their unusually thick central glazing bars. There are single hood-moulded attic windows in the gable ends, corniced end stacks, and a slated roof. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing with a deep slated roof and end stacks, which contains multi-paned sash and case glazing that has been altered on the inner courtyard elevation, along with modern skylights. The court is enclosed at the back by a single-storey outbuilding featuring a pair of doors and slit ventilators at the front, and there is a dry-stone boundary wall along the street.
