Description
The Monument to Provost George Scott, located in Mid Links, Montrose, was designed by D.W. Galloway in 1903. It is constructed from battered red sandstone ashlar and stands on a three-step stone base. The monument features a square section that gently tapers upwards, culminating in a cornice, dome, and a cap and ball finial. A miniature Venetian-style window recess houses a bronze relief plaque depicting Provost George Scott, along with the inscription: "Erected by subscription in recognition of public improvements initiated and carried out by George Scott, Provost of Montrose 1887-1890."
