Description
The Clydesdale Bank, located at 71-73 Castle Street in Forfar, was designed by A.H.L. Mackinnon from Aberdeen around 1900. This two-storey building features a Renaissance style, with a channelled ashlar ground floor and segment-headed windows. The bank section has five windows, with the central and end bays projecting forward. Notable architectural elements include a decorative armorial panel at the parapet, flanked by rusticated pilasters, and a broken semi-circular pediment topped with an obelisk. There is also a three-window south wing, while the north wing was unfortunately not constructed.
