Description

The Old Parish Church and Burial-Ground in Cortachy is an oblong Gothic structure built from red ashlar. It features buttresses, one of which has a sundial dated 1675, and is topped with crocketted finials. The church was designed by architect David Paterson in 1828, and a vestry was added in the late 19th century. The semi-octagonal burial aisle, rebuilt in 1828, contains inset stones from 1614 positioned above the remains of an aumbry. The church is situated in a picturesque setting, although it was noted to be badly weathered in 1970.
