Description
North Auchray Farmhouse is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay farmhouse that features an L-plan design due to a single-storey wing at the rear. There is also a later single-storey dairy attached to the northwest. The farmhouse is constructed of whitewashed rubble with ashlar dressings around the openings and the dairy. It has a slate roof, brick stacks at the ends, a rendered eastern gable, and ashlar details on the dairy. The building includes modern pivot windows that are not in keeping with its character. The main house has plain bargeboards and cast-iron rainwater goods.
On the southeast elevation, the layout is symmetrical with a boarded door and narrow fanlight at the center, flanked by windows on either side, and three windows on the first floor. The gable and bay to the right return are blank.
The west gable features a window at both the ground and first floor centers, with an advanced window to the left and a door and window to the right return. The rectangular-plan dairy is advanced to the right, containing two doors and a window, along with a window and stack on the right return, topped with a piended roof.
Inside, there is a central stone newel stair and some doors that have fielded panelling. The farmhouse is enclosed by rubble walls.
