Description
31 Christie's Lane is a two-storey, five-bay house built in 1885. The front is constructed from bull-faced sandstone, while the sides and rear are made of squared and snecked stone. It features a base course, a band course above the ground floor, and chamfered margins.
On the south elevation, the entrance is centrally located and consists of a pointed-arch doorway with a Y-astragalled fanlight and a panelled door that has glazed upper panels. Above the entrance, there is a carved crest, which is weathered and dated 1885. A pointed-arch slit window is positioned above this in the wallhead gable, which also includes a stack. The ground and first floors have windows in the bays flanking the entrance, with the outer bays featuring larger windows.
The east and west elevations are blank gable ends. The north elevation has four bays, with a tall stair window located in the inner bay to the right at the first floor. The first-floor windows are four-pane cross-pattern casement windows, while the ground floor has modern timber-framed replacements. The roof is covered in grey slate with cream terracotta ridge tiles, and it features stone skews and skewputts. There is a red and white brick gablehead stack on the east side, a wallhead stack on the south, and a red brick stack on the west. The house has cast-iron cornice guttering.
The boundary walls consist of a low, coped stone wall at the front (south) with later steel railings, and a rubble stone wall at the rear (north).
