Description
The water pump at Blackwood Cottage in Tannadice was created by Walter McFarlane and Co. between 1851 and 1865. It is made of cast iron and stands on a large stone slab base. The pump features a slender lower shaft that tapers towards the base, with a wider, urn-like top section that has banded decoration. It includes a projecting spout at the front, a long ogee profiled handle on the side, and a saucer-domed cap topped with a moulded finial.
To the south, there is a semicircular wall that partly encloses the pump, with short straight sections on either side. This wall is constructed of random rubble dry stone with mortared rubble saddleback coping.
