Description
The Dovecot at Auchterhouse Mansion is a 17th-century structure designed in a rectangular plan with two chambers, built on a steeply sloping site to the east of the mansion house. It features rubble masonry with margined angles and a graded stone slate roof. The exterior includes dormered flight entries and a rat course at the rear, which is stepped at the sides.
On the southeast elevation, there are two entrance doorways with margined and rebated surrounds, and the door pins are intact. There is also a recess for an armorial panel and two dormer flight entries that have catslide roofs.
The interior, as observed in 2011, contains a nearly complete set of stone slab nesting boxes lining the walls.
