Description

The Watt/Webster Memorial, located in the burial ground of the Parish Church in Liff, was designed by David Neave in 1809. This classical style monument and its enclosure were built in memory of Katharine Webster, the wife of Isaac Watt of Logie, as well as other members of the Watt and Webster families from Balruddery. There are later additions to the north, including a memorial to James Martin White of Balruddery, which is built against the east wall.

The monument is constructed of polished ashlar, with rubble on the east side and plain rubble additions to the north. It features two Roman Doric columns that are flanked by antae, with swag decoration between the columns. The monument has a plain entablature and a central block adorned with reeded and inverted fan decoration, which was formerly topped with an urn finial that is now on the ground. The front is enclosed by ashlar walls.
