Description
The Ramsay Arms Hotel in Fettercairn has its origins in the late 18th century, but the building was extensively rebuilt and enlarged between 1896 and 1897 by Thomas Martin Cappon, an architect from Dundee. It is an asymmetrical building of two and three storeys, designed in the English Arts and Crafts style. The exterior is harled, with tiled roofs and windows featuring small panes, mullions and transoms. A prominent Jacobethan open timber porch with semi-elliptical arches supported on baluster shafts is a particular feature. Outbuildings at the rear of the hotel probably date from the early 19th century.
