Description
This is a mid-to-late 19th century cottage, single-story with an attic, and only three bays wide. It is constructed of rubble stone with painted joints and window reveals for contrast. The cottage has a central entrance, with a window to the right and a narrow stair window to the left. A single, canted dormer window projects from the roof at the wallhead. There is also a window in the north gable, and the windows feature either two or four panes of glass. Coped end stacks rise from the roof, which is covered in slate. A harled lean-to extension is located at the rear. Ordnance Survey records identify the property as number 56. It was likely used as a schoolhouse for the school next door (now the Gospel Hall) until the school was replaced by a later building, now a restaurant.
