Description

Skene Parish Church, located in Kirkton of Skene, was designed by William and Andrew Clerk in 1801 and features a Gothick style. The church has a rectangular plan and is harled with margins, topped by a piend roof. It retains its original glazing and has two windows on both the east and west sides, along with a central circular window and doorway. The west frontage is particularly well-finished, featuring pilastered centre mullions. The south frontage has four windows, with the central section slightly advanced and adorned with a gable quatrefoil and a bellcote, which were added during repairs in 1840 by architect John Smith. A session room, dated 1884, was built in the style of the original church.

Inside, the church was originally designed in a U-plan with a central pulpit but was later remodelled to include a west gallery, which features original Roman Doric columns and a reused gallery front, completed by G. Bennet Mitchell in 1932. The interior also boasts a wood ceiling with a cavetto cornice, and the church was originally constructed by Mowat Bell in 1735.
