Description
Menie House is a two-storey Jacobean building constructed around 1835 by John Smith for Sir George Turner. The exterior features harled pinned granite with freestone dressings. The southwest front is symmetrical with five windows, a central bay window, and a curvilinear gable that is flanked by octagonal finials and pinnacled angles. In contrast, the northwest front is asymmetrical, showcasing a splay angled Tudor porch and a circular tower at the northern angle. The house is topped with diagonal shaft chimneys. Additionally, it incorporates an older simple two-storey L-plan vernacular house built around 1782-1783 at the southeast corner. The interior is described as simple.
