Description
The Trustee Savings Bank, located at 11 and 13 High Street, Insch, was originally built in 1867 as a Town and County Bank by William Smith. It is constructed from granite ashlar in a Renaissance style. The building is two storeys and has an attic. The front elevation is tripartite, with a segmentally pedimented, balustraded, Roman Doric column porch centrally placed on the ground floor, accented by prominent quoin angles. The upper floors feature a four-window arrangement, topped by a cornice and parapet. A shallow, two-window projection sits within the gable, flanked by twin chimneys. Contracts for the building's construction were reported in the Aberdeen Journal on June 12th, 1867.
