Mill Of Carnousie, Carnousie

A corn mill dating primarily from the later 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The mill is located at Carnousie and was neglected and overgrown at the time of listing. It is constructed of random rubble, likely originally harled, with a gable end facing the road, featuring a loading bay at first-floor level. A wooden lean-to addition sits to the left side. The roof is covered in grey slates with coped skews. Inside, the mill retains wooden floors and some original machinery. A mill has existed on this site since at least 1289, and it remained in use until 1936. The building is shown as a corn mill on the Ordnance Survey map of Banffshire from 1871 to 1874. The mill is listed due to the survival of original components and its historical interest; it is no longer in working use.
