Description
The Bothy at Crossfold Farm is a mid-19th century building featuring a two-stage drum tower topped with a conical roof that has a spur finial. Access to the upper storey is via a forestair leading to a timber door with a moulded margin. There is a small window at the rear, and the entrance to the lower storey is set into the ground on the right side of the forestair, with a small ventilation opening to the left. At the back, there is a single-storey gabled addition. The exterior is constructed from squared granite courses, covered with grey slates and has coped skews.
Inside, the ground floor has a low entrance that leads to a limewashed circular washhouse and a rectangular milkhouse at the rear. The walls are limewashed, and the upper floor, which can only be accessed from the forestair, features a timber boarded floor, a tiled hearth, and a grate. The ceiling is open to the rafters, showcasing the exceptionally high-quality roof construction.
