Description
North Gellan is a mid-19th century, single-storey farmhouse with a rectangular plan and three bays. It features squared red granite courses and has a symmetrical main elevation with a central door flanked by rectangular windows. To the right, there is a two-bay addition that includes an additional door. The rear of the house has irregular fenestration and a gabled roof dormer at the center. The gable ends are blank, and there is a single-storey, stone-built lean-to outhouse attached to the west gable end. The building has modern fixed pane glazing with top hoppers, grey slate roofing with lead flashing, and coped skews with gable stacks.
Inside, there is a central lobby with a staircase at the rear and rooms on either side. The left gable end wall features a large inglenook fireplace, which includes a substantial single slab lintel stone and a mantelpiece supported by large curved stone corbels. The fireplace area also has a wall to the right that contains stone salt boxes. An original cast-iron swey is attached to the rear of the fireplace, and there is a modern cast-iron stove in the center with a stovepipe leading up the stone flue.
