Description

The Clydesdale Bank in Fyvie was designed in 1866 by James Matthews for the Town and County Bank. It is a tall, two-storey building with a basement and attic, and has a harled facade with granite margins. The southwest front has three windows and a consoled doorpiece, along with canted dormers. The southeast gable, facing the road, features two windows and a central consoled doorpiece. This is a good example of a mid-19th century country bank office. Contracts for the building’s construction were advertised in the Aberdeen Journal on June 20th, 1866.
