Description
Eagle's Gate Lodge, built around 1800, is a single-storey, three-bay gate lodge featuring modern harl with contrasting painted ashlar margins. The entrance is centrally located, flanked by small windows with 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The lodge has margined end stacks and flat skews with run-off skewputts, topped by a steeply pitched slate roof with a stone ridge. There is a later rear extension with an adjusted roof pitch.
The gatepiers, dating from the late 18th century, are square and made of ashlar, each featuring a narrow pulvinated string course, a deep cornice, and a stepped cap. Unfortunately, no original gates remain.
Coped rubble walls enclose the site and connect to the gate lodge and gatepiers, which are set well back from the road.
