Description
Kirkton Cottage is a single storey and dormerless attic cottage built in the mid to late 19th century, featuring three bays. The structure is made of rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. The central entrance is obscured by a modern glazed porch and is topped by a steeply pitched gable that includes a slit attic light. Each gable has a small attic window with modern two-pane glazing. The cottage has tall octagonal corniced stacks at each end and a slate roof that includes modern loft roof lights.
There are later lean-to extensions at each gable, both with pantiled roofs, and a single storey modern addition at the rear. Small rubble outbuildings with pantiled roofs are located on either side of the house. The garden is enclosed by coped rubble walls.
