Description
The Vaults, located at Harbour Place in Banff, is an early 19th-century building that was originally a warehouse and converted into a dwelling around 1978. It stands as a tall, two-storey structure with four bays, built against the slope and accessible from Sheriffs Brae. The front facing the Quayside features a dark rubble stone finish, while the rest of the building has modern harl.
On the ground floor, there are two tall pointed-headed arched entrances, and the first floor has a smaller pattern of four similarly shaped windows, along with a single pointed-headed window in the north return gable. All windows have modern timber frames and multi-pane glazing. The entrance to the dwelling is located on the raised ground floor from Sheriffs Brae, featuring a modern glazed entrance and significantly enlarged plate glass windows. The roof is covered with pantiles.
