Aberdeen, Spa Street, Woolmanhill, Former Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Outbuilding And Stack, Boiler House

The former Aberdeen Royal Infirmary outbuilding and boiler house, likely designed by W & J Smith and Kelly with H Saxon Snell as consultant, was built between 1887 and 1897. This structure features a tall single-storey, four-bay rectangular plan boiler house alongside a lower rectangular-plan outbuilding, forming part of a significant 19th-century hospital complex in the city centre of Aberdeen. The building is constructed from Aberdeen bond, cherry-cocked granite and includes tall round-arched windows. The lower section to the left of the boiler house has a pair of segmental-arched openings, while the outbuilding to the right features a segmental-arched entrance on the street elevation. The outbuilding has a pitched slate roof with a raised glazed section, and there is a tall red-brick stack on a granite base located at the north-east corner of the boiler house.
