Description

No 26 South Square in Footdee is a single-storey, three-bay detached cottage built in 1837 by John Smith. It is located on the former entrance on the west side of South Square. The cottage is mainly constructed of coursed granite rubble with some snecking and features granite dressings. The central doorway is flanked by small openings that are positioned close to the eaves level.

The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case style, and the roof is covered with grey slate. The cottage has square-plan gable-end stacks with decorative clay cans, as well as ashlar skews and skewputts. Opposite the house within South Square, there is a timber 'tarry' shed.
