Description
107-109 Union Street is an early 19th-century, three-storey and attic, 19-bay classical row of tenements with shops on the ground floor, which have been altered. The building is located between sets of steps that lead down to The Green. Notable features include a distinctive first floor at nos 117 and 119, designed by Robert Wilson in 1900. The structure has some band courses, a cornice, and a blocking course, along with round-arched openings on the east and west side elevations. The roof features piended dormers.
At the first floor of nos 117-119, there are three wide, large round-arched openings with keystones and banding, featuring upper halves with small-pane coloured glass and a smaller opening to the left. Above this, there is a Doric frieze topped with small obelisks.
The upper storeys predominantly feature plate glass and four and twelve-pane timber sash and case windows, while the shops have plate glass. The building has ridge and wallhead stacks.
