Description

The Memorial Bridge over the River Ythan was built in 1935 and serves as a pedestrian bridge in a remote location. It features a 9-span beam and slab construction with a shallow catenary curve form, made of reinforced concrete. The bridge is supported by 8 broad, slightly battered piers with chamfered plinths at the top. It has a balustraded parapet with square balusters and a solid parapet section above the center span on both sides. The ends of the parapets are marked by square piers. On the southeast parapet, facing the footpath, there is a bronze plaque commemorating World War II, dated 1946. On the northwest parapet, also facing the footpath, is a bronze plaque memorializing the Great War, dated 1935.
