Description

Two-storey/ two-bay vernacular house with left gable to road and two-storey outbuilding to right gable. It is aligned E-W on E side of Ballintemple Road. Pitched natural slate roof with red machine-brick chimney to internal party wall with gable to outbuilding. Slightly advanced eaves course with timber eaves board. No rainwater goods. Walls are lime-rendered rubble stone. Principal elevation faces S. Set to extreme right-end of right bay is a projecting porch (detailed as house) with door opening to front face; left and right cheeks are blank. To its left, each bay has a window to each floor with exposed boxes and granite cills. Ground floor windows have the remains of 6/3 sliding sash and those to first floor contain the remains of a 2/2 sash. Right gable is completely abutted by a similarly detailed two-storey outbuilding. Its S elevation has a t+g sheeted door to right-end and a boarded window (cill-less) to centre. First floor has two window openings; that to left is set slightly left of ground floor window. Its right gable has a t+g sheeted loading door accessed by external steps. Rear elevation of house has a 2/2 sliding sash first floor centre of left bay. Rear of outbuilding has two ground floor windows; that to left is a top-hung timber casement window and that to right is a 2/2 sliding sash. Left gable is blank. Setting. House is enclosed to road by a rubble stone wall with field stone copings. A modern metal gate leads into a small front garden; opposite house is a single-storey four bay outbuilding with pitched natural slate roof and lime rendered rubble stone walls. There is an opening to each bay on its N elevation. From left: a t+g sheeted door, a door opening, 3x1 metal framed window, and a large door opening with the remains of t+g sheeted doors at extreme right. Its left gable has a t+g sheeted loading door (to loft in left bay). Rear elevation has a door opening to all but right bay. The right gable is blank and faces the road.
