Description
This is a large, two-storey, late Edwardian house built around 1910, exhibiting features of the Domestic Revival style with its varied gabled and canted bays. The building appears roughly U-shaped and has a gabled, hipped, and mansard roof with a slight overhang, now covered with artificial slates. The exterior is rough cast rendered, with smooth render quoins and dressings. Windows are generally plain sash, incorporating single, double, and tripartite varieties, as well as paired and triple groupings. The east-facing front facade is asymmetrical, featuring two full-height gabled bays and a gabled, open porch resembling a lych-gate. A full-height canted bay is located to the east. A tall rendered chimney stack is also visible. Modern apartment blocks are situated to the west. Originally known as ‘Navan House’, the property was constructed approximately between 1910 and 1915. In the 1970s and 1980s, it served as a holiday home for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The building has since been subdivided into apartments, with further apartment blocks added to the rear.
