Description
This is a simple, gabled former school house, originally built in the 1870s and 1880s, with a gabled return. A modern, flat-roofed extension has been added recently. The building now serves as one of two church halls for the local Presbyterian church.
The main building is a single-storey gabled structure, with a further gabled return. A modern, flat-roofed extension projects from the left side of the south elevation, featuring two modern high-level windows. To the right of the extension are three, equally spaced, mock sash and case windows (appearing as 6 over 9 panes) with segmental arch heads and raised surrounds. A recessed entrance door is located on the east face of the flat-roofed extension. The east facade of the original building presents a blank gable with overhanging eaves and a painted bargeboard. The north facade displays an off-centre gabled return, with two symmetrically placed windows matching those on the south side. A timber door is located on the east face, while the west face is blank. Windows matching the others are positioned to either side of the return: two to the left and one to the right. The west facade was originally gabled but is now largely obscured by a flat-roofed extension with high-level windows – two to the west face and one to its north face. The corners of the original building are finished with moulded quoins. The building stands within its own grounds, now tarmacadamed for use as a car park. A low, rendered wall with concrete copings and modern, arrow-head railings defines the boundary.
