34 Killowen Old Road, Killowen, Rostrevor, Newry, Co Down, BT34 3AD

This is a single-story, four-bay house with a rear return, situated on Killowen Old Road in Rostrevor. The house was constructed between 1840 and 1859, appearing on the 1859 Ordnance Survey map but not on the earlier 1834 map. It is of vernacular design.

The main, south-facing elevation features a natural slate roof to the east end, transitioning to artificial slate at the west end. Tiled verges are present on all bays except between the first and second bays from the left. Plastic semicircular rainwater goods are fitted. Two brick chimneys with granite copings rise from the roof; one is situated on the party wall between the first and second bays, and the other between the third and fourth bays. The walls are finished with a wet-dash rendering. The main entrance, slightly left of centre in the second bay, consists of a four-panelled, painted timber door set within a narrow, smooth cement architrave. A two-over-two sliding sash window (with horns) is set in each of the remaining bays on the facade. The window heads are level with the eaves, and all windows have granite cills and architraves matching the door. A two-over-two sliding sash window is set in the right gable, and a top-opening metal window in the left gable.

The rear elevation incorporates two bays with two-over-two sliding sash windows. A return block abuts the two bays on the right-hand side, with matching roof and wall construction to the main building. This return block has three top-opening metal windows on its rear wall, and a painted timber sheeted door and a top-opening metal window on its left cheek, with a painted timber sheeted door set into its right cheek.

A narrow front garden is enclosed by a low, dashed wall with a wrought iron gate. Overgrown gardens extend to the left, right, and rear of the property.
