A modern two-storey house has been built incorporating the fabric of a former single-storey vernacular dwelling, likely dating from before 1834. The property is situated on the west side of Newcastle Road, approximately two miles north of the village of Seaforde.

The original single-storey cottage, described in a 1978 survey, had a slated roof, rendered gable ends and chimneys, and rough cast walls painted white. The front had three drop-hung sash windows with Georgian panes, and a sheeted entrance door positioned between the first and second windows. The condition was noted as poor. The present house bears no resemblance to the original building, featuring large modern windows and doors. While the thickness of the ground floor walls suggests that some fabric from the older building has been retained, little else is recognizable.

An Ordnance Survey map of 1834 shows a house on this site, owned by John Blackwood around 1836 and potentially dating from the later 18th century. The Blackwood family continued to own the property into 1860. The 1978 survey indicated the presence of a shop and living quarters. Following this, around 1985, the building appears to have been raised in height and new window openings inserted. The house was constructed between 1980 and 1999.
