Description

A two-storey public house aligned NE-SW along the roadside, with modern additions to rear and left gable. It is three openings wide. Pitched natural slate roof with three courses of decorative slates (two are fishscale, that between is triangular). There are three cement rendered chimneys; one to each gable and another set to right of centre. An advanced eaves course supports half-round metal rainwater goods. Walls are wet-dashed with irregular stucco cement quoins. All cills are painted granite. Principal elevation faces SE. To each ground floor end of the façade is a 6/6 sliding sash window with horns; to centre is a 3x1 fixed-pane window (in a slightly enlarged original opening) with a pair of timber sheeted doors to its right. To first floor are three equally spaced 3/3 sliding sash windows, diminished in height. Directly above central openings is a hand-painted timber fascia board. Left gable is abutted by a modern single-storey addition which in turn is abutted by a double-pile single-storey block – all detailed as house. The exposed section is blank. Rear elevation is almost completely abutted by modern additions. At left is a single-storey (+ basement). To centre is a single-storey flat-roofed link block leading to the rear pile of addition to left gable. The exposed rear elevation of main block could not be seen. All openings are modern and of no interest. Right gable has a 2/2 sliding sash window with no cill. None of the new additions is of special interest.
