Presbyterian Church, Lower Foughill Road, Jonesborough, Co Armagh, BT35 8SQ

This is a ruinous barn church, dating from between 1860 and 1879, situated on an elevated site in the townland of Foughill Etra, accessed by eleven granite steps. It is located on the west side of Lower Foughill Road, aligned northeast to southwest. The church is now largely overgrown with vegetation and is of limited architectural interest. The roof is gone, and the walls are largely cement wet-dashed over rubble stone, although the southwest gable has smooth cement rendering. Stepped, cement-rendered quoins are visible on the northeast gable, and there are advanced brick eaves. The northeast gable features a two-centred arch door opening in the centre, with a smooth, lime-rendered, stepped surround. A timber beam at arch spring level suggests a former transom. Lancet-headed window openings are positioned above the door, one on either side. Each side elevation originally contained three lancet windows, featuring chamfered jambs, internal brick reveals, and granite sills; vestiges of stepped, lime-rendered architraves are still visible. The southwest gable is blank. A datestone, indicating erection in 1862, was recorded in a historical survey but is currently not visible on the structure. The church was not shown on the 1861 Ordnance Survey map but is referenced in a manuscript version of the Valuation Book from 1862. It is currently recorded as derelict and remains under the ownership of the Presbyterian Church.
