Description

One in a group of five three-storey/ two-bay terraced houses fronting south side of Sandys Street. This building is second from left. Pitched artificial slate roof with cement rendered chimney at left. Semicircular metal rainwater goods to facade with down pipe to left (shared with no.23). Rear pitch has plastic rainwater goods with downpipe to right. Walls of street façade painted line render, with raised eaves course. Main entrance, at right, comprises an original six-panel (raised, fielded and scalloped) grained timber door with narrow transom light over. To left of door is a recessed boot scraper. Door opening is flanked by two painted render bands with bracketed and moulded entablature over. At left is a single 1/1 sliding sash window. There are three irregularly spaced identical windows at first and second floors; the right-hand ones are in line with door, and the top floor ones are diminished in height. All windows have exposed boxes and granite cills. To left of front door is a recessed boot scraper (To left No 23 and to right No 21). Left and right gables are party walls with adjoining properties (HB16/28/104E and HB16/28 /104C respectively). Rear wall is painted and wet dashed in cement. A two-storey return abuts left bay. Ground floor opening of main block has modern fixed window (with two transoms over). There is a 1/1 sliding sash at first floor, and an identical window to each second floor bay. All have granite cills. Return has natural slate hipped roof with skylight to left pitch. Back wall of this return has two 1/1 sash windows to ground floor and two 2/2 sashes to first floor. Yard is enclosed by two storey smooth rendered outhouse. The façade facing to the house has a timber sheeted door at right, and 1/1 sash window at left. At first floor is a 6/6 sash window above the door. Left and right gables abutted by outhouses belonging to adjoining houses. Door in back wall into garden. S
