Description

This is a small, single-storey gabled building likely constructed before 1834, originally serving as a session house for the nearby Rademan Unitarian meeting house. It sits within the curtilage of the church (listed separately as HB18/05/022), complementing its setting. While not considered of special architectural or historical interest in its own right, it is situated approximately two miles west of Crossgar.

The building’s front façade, facing southeast, is asymmetrical. A timber-sheeted door is positioned slightly right of centre, and boarded-up window openings sit on either side of the doorway. Both gables are blank. The rear of the building is also blank, with a small lean-to projection, and is finished with a dry dash render. The roof is slated with rendered parapets and features two rendered chimney stacks.

The building underwent renovation and restoration between 2000 and 2004. The windows are now painted, top-hung, six-over-six Georgian paned timber windows. The door has been painted, and the roof reslated with natural slate; the external render remains unchanged.

An Ordnance Survey map from 1834 depicts a building on this site, potentially corresponding to the current structure. Local historical accounts suggest the building may be as old as the adjacent church, dating to around 1787. Records from the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) including Ordnance Survey maps from 1834, 1858, and around 1901 confirm the building's presence on the site.
