Description

Right-hand end dwelling in a terrace of five three-storey/ two-bay houses stepping up Windsor Hill. This building is on the corner of Windsor Hill and Talbot Street and has a wider frontage than others in terrace. Pitched natural slate roof, hipped to right side, with cement rendered chimney to left gable. Semicircular metal rain water goods with no downpipe to facade. Wall to façade is unpainted lined cement render. Two granite steps rise to main entrance on right side of right bay; second step has a wrought iron boot scraper to left side. Door is modern painted timber with four raised panels and plain transom over. To left bay at ground floor are two 6/6 replacement exposed-box sliding sashes, with horns and painted granite cills; that to right has a trickle vent. There are two windows to each upper floor, in line with each other but not with ground floor openings. Those to first floor are 6/6 as ground floor and those to second floor are 3/6 sliding sashes (diminished in height). Left windows to each upper floor have trickle vents. Left gable forms party wall with adjacent property. Right elevation (to Talbot Street) is rendered as façade. To ground floor left is a single 6/6 sliding sash as those to façade. To first floor are three equally spaced 6/6 sliding sashes as façade. To second floor are three 3/6 sliding sashes as those to façade. Rear elevation is abutted at ground floor left by a single store return. Remaining exposed wall is lined unpainted cement render with one window to ground floor. At first floor is a modern timber and glass door with 2/4 sliding sash to its right; this door leads to a modern metal escape stair. To its left is a 3/6 sliding sash between ground and first floors. Directly above it, between first and second floor, is a larger 3/6 sliding sash. At second floor is a 6/3 sliding sash with extractor fan to central pane of top sash. All windows have horns and painted granite cills. The return has a natural slate roof and modern door flanked by two modern windows to inner yard. Outhouse to rear has been much altered with modern roof and smooth painted render walls and is now a separate property.
