Store, Mill Lane, Moneymore, Magherafelt

This is a large store, built between 1840 and 1859. The building is approximately 30 metres by 22 metres and has a corrugated iron pitched roof and gabled ends. It is constructed with random rubble black stone walls and is entered from Mill Lane. It lies immediately south of the courtyard of the Orange Hall.

The surrounding rubble wall is substantial. While the store itself has limited architectural interest, the site has a complex history, initially as a former castle. It is thought that the castle and associated bawn (defensive enclosure) were likely located on the site of the former school and schoolyard; the footings of heavy walls were apparently found during the school's construction. It is unclear whether these remains were of a bawn wall or part of the castle, but it was likely that the bawn would have been situated to the north of the castle. While no walls are visible on the 1832 Ordnance Survey map, some enclosure is shown on the 1856 Ordnance Survey map.

The building possesses industrial archaeological interest and is considered a monument, situated within a conservation area. The site's earlier use was as a castle.
