Jetty at Magheramorne Cement Works, Shore Road, Magheramorne, Larne, Co Antrim

The jetty at Magheramorne Cement Works is a reinforced concrete pier built between 1900 and 1919, designed by Maxted & Knott Ltd and constructed using the Hennebique system of reinforced concrete. It represents an example of an early system of reinforced concrete design, demonstrating engineering interest. The pier is carried on a framework of reinforced concrete members, including angled braces and cylindrical piers. It’s situated on the shore of Larne Lough, in a generally rural location within the grounds of the cement works, surrounded by utilitarian industrial buildings. The structure’s features are of industrial archaeological interest.
