Description

A symmetrical two-storey/ three-bay house aligned SW-NE on a lane to the S of Aghnachuill Townland. Pitched natural slate roof with cement rendered brick chimney with concrete coping at party wall between each bay; that to right has been removed. Rainwater goods are gone. All walls are lime-rendered and have slightly advanced eaves. Windows are exposed box 2/2 sliding sashes with horns and stone cills (unless otherwise stated). Principal elevation faces SE. Central bay has a large projecting porch with moulded cement cornice and flat cement-coped roof. Its walls are lined and cement rendered with a continuous cement cill course. SE face and left cheek each contain a margin paned window (orange glass to margins with blue corner panes decorated with a floral motif). Right cheek contains a t+g sheeted entrance door with narrow transom over. Left and right bays each have a window to ground floor. Aligned above ground floor openings are three equally spaced windows, slightly diminished in height. Left gable is blank. Rear elevation is abutted at ground floor to central bay and part of right bay by a lean-to annexe (see later). Left bay has two 3/3 metal framed top-hung casement windows. Exposed section of right bay has a window as façade. First floor has three equally spaced windows, also as façade. The annexe has a monopitched corrugated metal roof and concrete block walls. NW face has a 2x2 metal framed top-hung casement window to left and a narrow 1x3 fixed pane to right. Left cheek is blank and right cheek has a t+g sheeted door. Right gable is abutted by a lean-to outbuilding, detailed as house with a monopitched natural slate roof. The exposed section of the gable is blank. NE face of outbuilding has a 3x2 metal framed casement window to left and a narrow 1x3 fixed pane window to right. Left cheek is blank. Right cheek has a t+g sheeted door. Setting: The house is set on an exposed site in open farmland. To rear is a farmyard containing a number of outbuildings, all of no interest.
