Description

These four square sandstone gate pillars are positioned to have previously accommodated a pair of main gates and two smaller side gates, although the gates themselves are no longer present. The pillars have panelled sides, a simple horizontal band, and a thin flat coping stone at the top. The coping is low and gabled on all four sides, featuring interlocking ridges. One pier is missing from the south side.

The pillars likely date from around 1850, and are probably contemporary with the nearby house. They stand facing the footpath on the Culmore Road and at the lower end of the garden of 9 Baronscourt.
