Stone circle, Banagher Road, Feeny, Co Londonderryn

The site contains a stone circle, dating to before 1600, located on the northern slope of Caugh Hill in the townland of Templemoyle, approximately three fields from the Banagher Road on its west side, adjacent to a private residence. The stones are set amongst gorse, making a clear geometric arrangement difficult to discern. Individual stones and small groups of stones have been identified, varying in height from 450mm to 1000mm. The site was not marked on early Ordnance Survey maps, but is shown on Ordnance Survey Map 63-1 Londonderry at a scale of 2500. The Ordnance Survey Memoirs of Ireland (1833-34, 1838 edition) provide a brief description under reference No. 3. The site’s record number is LDY 30.44 and it is considered a monument.
